Sanju Samson-inspired Memes Flood Internet After Kerala Star Gets Out For Golden Duck in IND vs SL 2nd T20I

Sanju Samson memes flooded the internet after the Kerala batter was dismissed for a golden duck in the second T20I against Sri Lanka at the Pallekele International Cricket Stadium on Sunday, July 28.

The 29-year-old was named as replacement for injured Shubman Gill in the match, however he failed once again to capitalise on the opportunity and was clean bowled by Sri Lanka spinner Maheesh Theekshana on the first ball of the second over.

Sri Lanka were restricted to 161/9 after being invited to bat first but India were given a revised target of 78 to chase in eight overs due to rain interruption.

Fireworks were expected from the star batter but unfortunately his innings was cut short by a beautiful carrom ball from Theekshana. The ball travelled through the bat and pads to hit the middle-stump.

While some fans sympathised with Sanju Samson for failing time and again in the limited opportunities he gets, others came up with innovative memes on social media platform X (formerly Twitter) to troll the wicketkeeper-batter. Notably, Samson did not play in the first T20I, and got the opportunity in the second game only after vice-captain Shubman Gill woke up with a back spasm on the matchday.

Talking about the match, India made light work of the 78-run target by chasing it down in just 6.3 overs. Yashasvi Jaiswal scored 30 runs off 15 balls, while captain Suryakumar Yadav also chipped in with 26 off 12.

Hardik Pandya walked in after Surya's departure and scored 22 not out runs off nine balls. Sri Lanka's star spinner Wanindu Hasaranga leaked 34 runs in two overs. Pacer Matheesha Pathirana went for 18 runs in nine balls.
