Sanju Samson reacts after his World Cup 2023 hopes end with another painful snub: 'Way down we go'

Sanju Samson has finally reacted to the repeated snub he is facing in lead up to the World Cup 2023 and made an Instagram post with a caption reading, "It is what it is!! I choose to keep moving forward."

The wicketkeeper-batter from Kerala in his latest snub on Monday was left out of the 17-member squad for the 3-match ODI series against Australia starting September 22.

"It is what it is!! I choose to keep moving forward," Sanju Samson wrote with a picture of him defending a ball beautifully in India blue. 'Way down we go' tunes from Kaleo play in the background.

The likes of Tilak Varma and Ruturaj Gaikwad, who are part of the Asian Games 2023 squad, have been picked for the three matches ahead of Sanju Samson.

Sanju Samson's omission from the Asian Games 2023 squad while India were playing the white-ball leg of the West Indies series, had given hopes to the star right-hand batter and his fans.

Notably, men's cricket matches at the Asian Games will be played between September 28 and October 7. The World Cup 2023 starts from October 5, and players selected for the continental event were naturally ruled from the race for a World Cup 2023 spot.

However, Tilak Varma was selected ahead of him in the Asia Cup 2023 squad. Samson travelled as a reserve player to Sri Lanka and was sent back once KL Rahul joined the squad after recovering fully from his injury.

The selectors hammered the final nail in the coffin on Monday after ignoring Samson for the 3-match ODI series against Australia. The likes of Ruturaj Gaikwad and Tilak Varma, who are part of the Asian Games 2023 squad, were selected ahead of him.
