Sanju Samson to Headline KCL Season 3 Team Launch in Thiruvananthapuram

The Kerala Cricket League (KCL) Season 3 team launch is set to receive a major boost with Indian cricketer and KCL icon Sanju Samson scheduled to attend the ceremony in Thiruvananthapuram on Monday, August 17.

Sanju will be among the chief guests at the official team launch, which will take place at Hotel Leela Raviz, Kovalam, from 5:30 PM. His presence is expected to add further excitement to the build-up to the third edition of the Kerala Cricket League.

The event will officially unveil all six franchises competing in Season 3, along with their respective captains, coaches and support staff. Tourism and Culture Minister P. C. Vishnunath will also attend the ceremony as a chief guest.

For Kerala's young cricketers, Sanju's presence will carry particular significance. One of the state's most prominent international cricketers, the Rajasthan Royals captain has emerged as an important figure for aspiring players from Kerala. His journey from Kerala's domestic cricket structure to the international stage has made him a natural source of inspiration for the state's emerging talent.

The Kerala Cricket Association (KCA) has positioned the KCL as a key component of its efforts to develop a comprehensive cricket ecosystem in the state. The league provides emerging players with a competitive platform to showcase their abilities, gain exposure and enhance their prospects.

The KCA is also planning grassroots initiatives, including inter-school cricket tournaments, to identify and nurture young talent and create a stronger pathway towards the KCL.

KCL 2026 Schedule

The third season will begin on August 20 at the Greenfield International Stadium in Thiruvananthapuram. The 17-day tournament will conclude with the final on September 5.

Six teams - Trivandrum Royals, Aries Kollam Sailors, Alleppey Ripples, Kochi Blue Tigers, Thrissur Titans and Calicut Globstars are participating in the tournament. The opening day will feature Calicut Globstars against Thrissur Titans at 2:30 PM, followed by defending champions Kochi Blue Tigers taking on Aries Kollam Sailors in the evening.
