Sarfaraz Khan got his maiden India call-up after a long wait on Monday after being named in the India squad for the second Test against Visakhapatnam which starts from February 2.
The 26-year-old batter has been piling up reasons in domestic cricket for a last couple of seasons. He scored 556 runs in six matches at an average of 92.66 in Ranji Trophy 2022-23 season. He was the leading run-scorer in Ranji Trophy 2021-22. He scored 982 runs in six matches at an average of 122.75.

He was named in the squad after KL Rahul and Ravindra Jadeja were ruled out of the second Test due to their respective injuries. Virat Kohli is also unavailable due to personal reasons, and the selectors have added the youngster to the squad to bolster India's batting unit.
The Mumbai batter was part of India's Under-19 World Cup 2014 squad which included as many as five cricketers who made his international debut ahead of him and are an established Team India star at the moment.
Sanju Samson: The Kerala wicketkeeper-batter made his India debut back in 2015, and is one of the most famous cricketers in the country. Despite not being a regular, his fan base is as big as that of Virat Kohli and Sanju Samson.
Sanju Samson has played 16 ODIs and 25 T20I matches till date. The right-hand batter also leads Rajasthan Royals in the IPL. He is the captain of Kerala domestic cricket team.
Shreyas Iyer: The Mumbai batter is a regular for India across formats now. Shreyas Iyer made his India debut in 2017, and has played 13 Tests, 59 ODIs and 51 T20Is since then.
Iyer was part of India's World Cup 2023 squad. In the tournament he was India's third-highest run-scorer. He scored 530 runs in 11 matches at an average of 66.25, and a strike rate of 113.24. The right-hand batter has led Delhi Capitals (DC) and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the IPL.
Kuldeep Yadav: The Uttar Pradesh spinner is India's leading spinner in white-ball cricket at the moment. He is also the only India spinner who finds a place in the Indian squad across formats.
After making his debut in 2017, Kuldeep has featured in 101 ODIs, 35 T20Is and eight Test matches. The chinaman bowler is also the leading spinner for Delhi Capitals (DC) in IPL.
Avesh Khan: The Madhya Pradesh pacer made his India debut in 2022 and has played eight ODI and 20 T20I games since then. He was also inducted in the India squad for the second Test against South Africa as Mohammed Shami's replacement.
Later, he found a place in the India squad for the first two Test matches against England. He hasn't made his Test debut yet, but is soon expected to get the chance. Avesh Khan was bought for Rs 10 crore in IPL 2022, and has been traded to Rajasthan Royals (RR) for the same amount ahead of IPL 2024.
Deepak Hooda: Rajasthan captain Deepak Hooda made his India debut in 2022 and has played 10 ODIs and 21 T20I matches till date. Hooda is also one of the nine Indian batters to hit a T20I hundred.
The all-rounder is part of Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) squad in the IPL. He was bought by the franchise for Rs 5.75 crore ahead of the IPL 2022.
