IND vs ENG: Sarfaraz Khan and Dhruv Jurel set for India debut in Rajkot Test, team's training session gives away massive hint

Sarfaraz Khan and Dhruv Jurel in all likelihood are set to make their India debut with the third Test against England in Rajkot which starts from Thursday, February 15.

Ahead of the match. Sarfaraz had an extended batting session, and also spent a lot of time practicing slip catching alongside Yashasvi Jaiswal at second slip, and Rajat Patidar in the gully. Dhruv Jurel was donning the wicketkeeping gloves all the while during the drill which was being closely watched by head coach Rahul Dravid and coach Rohit Sharma.

Sarfaraz Khan is likely to take the place of Shreyas Iyer who has been dropped for the final three Tests. Rajat Patidar made his India debut in the second Test, and is likely to retain his place in the absence of injured KL Rahul.

Devdutt Padikkal was brought in place for KL Rahul, but the Karnataka batter is unlikely to play ahead of Sarfaraz Khan who has piled up runs after runs in domestic cricket. Sarfaraz also slammed a hundred for India A against England Lions.

23-year-old Dhruv Jurel is very likely to get into the team on the back of his higher batting prowess than KS Bharat. Despite the repeated chances given to him, Bharat has failed miserably as a batter.

On the other hand, Jurel has scored 790 runs in 15 first-class matches at an average of 46.47. The Uttar Pradesh batter has one hundred and five first-class fifties to his name.

IND vs ENG: Injury concern for Shubmna Gill?

Shubman Gill did not take the field for India in the second innings after injuring his finger while fielding in the second Test. India's new number three missed the optional training session on Tuesday.

But in the absence of Virat Kohli and KL Rahul, India cannot afford to lose Gill to injury. Gill skipping the session could very well be a precautionary move. The Punjab batter smashed a hundred in the second Test, and would be aiming for another match-winning knock for India.
