Sarfaraz Khan has lit up the cricketing fraternity with a superb start to his India career in the Red Ball format.
After scoring tons of runs, Sarfaraz finally got the elusive India opportunity and so far he has done no injustice to that. He scored two half-centuries on his debut to announce his arrival at the international stage, and is expected to grow in stature in the coming days.

Despite his monumental success in domestic cricket and now in the Test format for India, Sarfaraz has struggled in the shorter formats of the game. In 101 innings across List A and T20 combined, Sarfaraz has only managed 2 centuries and 3 fifties.
In the IPL, he has represented the likes of Royal Challengers Bangalore, Punjab Kings and most recently, Delhi Capitals but his credentials and numbers are not that rich. Sarfaraz's most prolific season came in 2019, when he scored 180 runs.
His arrival at Delhi Capitals in 2022 was not fruitful either, as the batter managed only 144 runs across ten matches and was subsequently released ahead of the IPL 2024 auction. Even in the auction, the Indian player hasn't got any takers.
But just 10 matches across two seasons is quite a low number, and when asked that, Delhi Capitals' Director of Cricket Sourav Ganguly opened up on the reason for Sarfaraz's lack of game time.
The former India captain says that the Mumbai-born player is moulded for the longer version of the game as that suits him.
"I think he is more of a five-day player. His game is suited for that. T20 is a different format and the amount of runs he has scored in domestic cricket - in Ranji Trophy and other First-class games is phenomenal. And as they say, if you score runs, it doesn't go waste," Ganguly said to Revsportz implying that the Indian batter is not tailor-made for the T20 version.
Although Ganguly may have doubts about Sarfaraz's blitzkrieg abilities, Kolkata Knight Riders and Chennai Super Kings are rumoured to be in the race for Sarfaraz Khan. As reports say, KKR are keen to rope in the India player and are likely to battle it out with CSK for his signature.
