Mumbai wicketkeeper-batter Sarfaraz Khan tied the knot with Kashmir's Romana Zahoor on Sunday. The pictures and videos of the 25-year-old, who represents Delhi Capitals (DC) in the IPL, went viral on Sunday before he himself took to his social media handle to post his wedding picture with a caption reading, "Alhamdulillah married."

The Mumbai-born star looked dapper in his black Sherwani, while his wife also looked radiant in her red and gold Lehenga during the private ceremony held in the scenic Shopian district of Jammu and Kashmir. Sarfaraz also interacted with a local media outlet in which he expressed who he was destined to married in Kashmir.

"The Almighty had decided that it was my destiny to get married in Kashmir. I have received a lot of love here and whenever I have time I will visit here,” the former Punjab Kings (PBKS) and Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) star said.

He also gave a philosophical answer when asked about his India snub despite giving it his all year-after-year in domestic red-ball cricket. "The Almighty had written that I would get married here. In the same way if He has written that I will play for India, I will," he said.

The youngster has also posted a series of Instagram stories from his wedding. In one of the videos, he can be seen lifting his bride's veil and putting a ring in her finger.

Romana was studying MSC in Delhi and Sarfaraz Khan's cousin was her classmate, the parents and sister of the bride have revealed. Sarfaraz's cousin introduced him to Romana during one of the cricketer's matches at Delhi's Arun Jaitley Stadium.

The explosive batter had then expressed his desire to marry Romana to her cousin before his parents reached out to Romana's family with the proposal. Romana's sister has said that her family never thought that a star cricketer would one day become part of their family.
