Sarfaraz Nawaz not impressed by Younis Khan's 'shenanigans'

By Super Admin

Karachi, Oct.21 (ANI): Former Pakistan fast bowler Sarfaraz Nawaz has lambasted captain Younis Khan for raking up a controversy by resigning from his post, and said that he (Khan) should concentrate more on his batting rather than holding onto the captaincy.

"He is losing his form and a non-performing captain can't lead a team properly. He must say good-bye to captaincy and concentrate more on his batting and to retain his form. A cricketer must perform to stay in the team though he be a captain," The News quoted Nawaz, as saying.

He criticized Khan for his demand to give him more powers as the skipper of the national squad, saying it was 'contemptible' on part of Khan to say so.

"England's Kevin Peitersen also demanded something similar but the England and Wales Cricket Board took away the captaincy from him. Such a exemplary course of action should also be taken against Younis," Nawaz said.

"The most successful captain Ricky Ponting never demanded such things but see Younis, what he wants to do, he wants selection committee of his choice, coach and manager. A captain must not interfere in such affairs of the board," he added.

Nawaz suggested that Shahid Afridi should be appointed the captain of the team, as a section of players are miffed with Khan's approach towards captaincy.

"This will have positive impacts on the team as the team players are not happy with Younis and many of them have complained that his behavior with them has been insulting," he said. (ANI)
