The Indian Premier League (IPL) has grown in leaps and bounds over the years. Since its inception in 2008, the IPL has made some giant strides and is one of the most valuable sporting leagues in the World.

The revenue, exposure of IPL have reached greater heights in the last few years, and it seems that foreign countries are getting interested in getting a share of the sweet pie of Indian cricket.

According to reports, Saudi Arabia has shown a keen desire to invest in an enormous stake in the Indian Premier League (IPL). Sources close to the subject were quoted stating the information.

Advisors to Saudi Arabia's Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman have reportedly liaised with officials from the Indian government concerning the transition of the IPL to a holding company, which has a value of around $30 billion.

Reports suggest that these discussions transpired during the Crown Prince's trip to India, back in September. The kingdom is rumoured to have proposed a monumental investment of $5 billion into the cricket league with plans of expansion to other countries, which is around 41500 crores in Indian rupees.

IPL is an independent entity of BCCI, and it will change the dynamic of the tournament if Saudi Crown makes an inroad.

Since 2008, the IPL has grown into the 2nd most valuable sports league in the world. It is to be seen whether BCCI and the Indian government comply with the Saudi wish.

The Saudi Arabian crown already has their inroads with the sports industry. They have already bought numerous stakes in English Premier League football clubs and other clubs around Europe. Getting a stake in IPL will be their maiden involvement in cricket.
