Chennai, July 29: Fans of Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise Chennai Super Kings (CSK) have launched "#SaveCSK" campaign for revoking the 2-year suspension handed out by Supreme Court appointed Justice RM Lodha Committee.
Highlights of Lodha panel report
MS Dhoni captained CSK, the 2-time champions were on July 14, suspended for 2 years by Justice Lodha panel after their Team Principal Gurunath Meiyappan, the son-in-law of N Srinivasan, was found guilty of betting on matches in 2013 season.
Rajasthan Royals (RR) were also punished the same way as co-owner Raj Kundra was builty of betting charges. (What was Dhoni doing on CSK's suspension day?)
Now, the fans of the "Men in Yellow" have begun a campaign where they are calling all supporters to assemble at CSK's home ground MA Chidambaram Stadium on August 1 (Saturday) to sign a petition to submit to the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and Supreme Court.
CSK have a huge fan base and are the most followed team in IPL. Now their supporters are disappointed with the ban and have now come up with this unique way to revoke suspension.
"Come to Chepauk Stadium on 1st August to the 2nd unofficial Test between India A & Australia A and sign the petition to save the team," a message of "SaveCSK" Facebook page read on Wednesday (July 29). "Remember, wear yellow," it added.
India A and Australia A are currently playing at MA Chidambaram Stadium. The four-day game started today. Test captain Virat Kohli is also playing.
According to the page, already over 6,000 people have confirmed to attend the event.
