Scotland split points with UAE in ICC Intercontinental Cup
Dubai, Jan 15 (UNI) Saqib Ali slammed a century and a fifty as the four-day match between UAE and Scotland in the Intercontinental Cup at Sharjah ended in a draw.
Set an impossible target of 332 to win off 46 overs on the final day, Scotland were reduced to 26 for five at one time but managed to sneak through for a draw.
The draw opened the door for defending champions Ireland who can now qualify for the final from Group A if they beat UAE outright in Abu Dhabi on February 10-13.
If UAE denies Ireland an outright victory, it will be 2004 champions Scotland who will progress to take on Canada in the final.
Canada won Group B having beaten Bermuda and Kenya.
The ICC Intercontinental Cup began in 2004 to give the leading players from the Associate sides the chance to improve by exposing them to a longer form of the game.
