Vadodara, Sep 26 (UNI) The on-field verbal duel between Delhi skipper Virendra Sehwag and Rest of India speedster Munaf Patel seems to have taken a serious turn with the former taking a sudden decision to fly back to Delhi in the midst of the prestigious Irani Trophy match today.
Talking to UNI, Baroda Cricket Association (BCA) media manager Jatin Vakil confirmed that Sehwag tonight left for Delhi.
The reason behind his decision to skip match was not immediately known.
Earlier in the day, the Delhi team had officially lodged a complaint before match referee Rajendra Jadeja against Patel for his alleged use of abusive language against Sehwag during the Delhi innings yesterday when their two openers -- Akash Chopra and Sehwag were batting.
The issue reportedly subsided only after umpire S K Tarapore brought it to the notice of Rest skipper Anil Kumble.
The match referee was supposed to take a decision on the matter on the fourth day of the match tomorrow after a meeting with both the team captains.
When contacted, BCCI Secretary Niranjan Saha said the Board was not aware of the fact that Sehwag had left for Delhi. Delhi team manager was also not available for his comment.
