Sehwag scores century as ONGC beat K G Colts to reach QFs
New Delhi, June 19 (UNI) Team India discard Virender Sehwag was back to his ruthless self as he struck a sparkling 168 in just 117 balls to help ONGC drub K G Colts by 160 runs and reach the quarterfinals of the DDCA Hot Weather tournament at Ferozeshah Kotla stadium here today.
Sehwag, who had failed to make the cut for India's Ireland and England tours, poured all his anger and frustration on the Colts bowlers hitting 19 fours and four towering sixes as ONGC posted a mammoth 312 for three in 40 overs after winning the toss.
Sandeep Sharma also made a quickfire 72 (59 balls) as the duo put up an opening stand of 196 runs in just 22.4 overs. Mayank Tehlan (33) and Mahesh Rawat (22) played cameos towards the end to help ONGC go past 300.
K G Colts looked never in the hunt as they lost wickets at regular intervals. Only Tarun Choudhary (73, 75 balls) stood tall among ruins as ONGC bolwers bundled out the opponents for a paltry 152 in 34.1 overs. Amit Mishra took four for 19 while Sandeep Singh and Amit Bhandari took two wickets apiece.
Virendra Sehwag was later adjudged Man of the Match for his knock.
