Sehwag urges Oz to go ahead with India tour

By Staff

Sydney, Sep 15 (UNI) Brushing aside security concerns following Saturday's serial blasts in New Delhi, swashbuckling opener Virender Sehwag has urged Australian cricketers not to back out of the Test series which is due to start next month.

''Delhi is not like Pakistan. For us it is back to normal routine today. There is no place in the world that is completely safe, not even the US. I think the Aussies should tour India,'' Sehwag told the Sydney Morning Herald.

New Delhi is scheduled to host the third of the four-Test series from October 29-November 2.

The Delhi blasts - the fourth major terrorist attack to hit Indian cities within the last five months - has heightened security concerns in some quarters with a CA security team due to submit its report by tomorrow.

Board of Cricket Control in India (BCCI) secretary Niranjan Shah backed Sehwag's views and asserted that there was no threat to the tour.

''I have not heard about any communication from Australia and I don't think there will be any change to the tour schedule,'' Shah said.

''I hope Australia also understands our position. The situation is normal and the Australian tour to India will go as per schedule,'' he added.
