By MyKhel Staff

Shah Rukh Khan was involved in a heated argument with Punjab Kings' co-owner Ness Wadia over the relevance of mega auction during the IPL owners meeting with BCCI on Wednesday, July 31.

Whether to have a mega auction or drop it completely emerged as the biggest topic of debate in the much-awaited meeting between the BCCI and the owners of the ten IPL teams.

As per a report by Cricbuzz, Quite a few voices , including Kolkata Knight Riders's Shah Rukh Khan' talked against having a mega auction at all. A BCCI source informed the website that Shah Rukh Khan fiercely made a case against mega auctions and got into a heated argument with Ness Wadia at one point.

The meeting is being held at the BCCI headquarters in Mumbai and among the owners who have turned up at meeting are Kiran Kumar Grandhi of Delhi Capitals, Sanjiv Goenka of Lucknow Super Giants, Rupa Gurunath of Chennai Super Kings, Kavya Maran of SunRisers Hyderabad, Manoj Badale of Rajasthan Royals and Prathmesh Mishra of Royal Challengers Bangalore. A few owners attended the meeting via video conference, including the Ambanis of Mumbai Indians.

A call on the number of retentions will be taken after a decision is made on whether to have a mega auction or not. Teams like KKR, Mumbai Indians (MI) and Chennai Super Kings (CSK) have a strong core of players who also play a crucial role in their branding.

However, teams like Punjab Kings and Delhi Capitals - who are yet to win an IPL trophy - don't have a large group of core players, and therefore would be more interested in a mega auction with not more than three-four retentions allowed.
