Shaheen Afridi and Shan Masood involved in physical fight, beat Mohammed Rizwan for intervening: Reports

Shaheen Afridi and captain Shan Masood were involved in a physical altercation inside the dressing room after Pakistan lost the first Test against Bangladesh by 10 wickets in Rawalpindi.

If reports are to be believed, tempers flared in the Pakistan dressing room after their first-ever Test defeat against Bangladesh. In the match, Shaheen Afridi picked just two wickets from his 30 overs, while Shan Masood scored 20 runs across the two innings. Pakistan were bundled out for 146 in the second innings.

A video from the Test match, which showed Shaheen removing Masood's hand from his shoulder during a team huddle had also gone viral. The latest reports coming from Pakistan suggest that the two players were involved in a physical fight after the massive defeat.

The report added that Mohammed Rizwan, was also beaten up badly by the duo when he tried to intervene and stop the fight. The report has further tainted Pakistan's team image in international cricket.

White ball coach Gary Kirsten had also expressed his displeasure on the lack of unity in the team after Pakistan's early exit from the T20 World Cup 2024.

"There's no unity in Pakistan's team. They call it a team, but it isn't a team. They aren't supporting each other; everyone is separated, left and right. I've worked with many teams, but I've never seen such a situation," Kirsten had said as per reports.

Shaheen Afridi dropped from second Test

The star left-arm pacer was dropped from the second Test which started on Friday, August 30. Head coach Jason Gillespie said that a discussion with Shaheen Afridi was done before taking the decision.

"We had a good conversation with him and he fully understands we are looking at the best combination for this game and the last few weeks have been interesting for him with fatherhood and other things, this break will allow him to spend time with his family," Gillispie said during the pre-match press conference.
