Shahid Afridi has lashed out at Pakistan captain Babar Azam and questioned his tactical moves in the ongoing World Cup 2023 in India. Afridi has stated that it's the job of the captain to apply pressure on opposition, adding that Babar Azam has failed in the role.
The comments from Shahid Afridi come amid Pakistan's dismal run at the ODI World Cup 2023. The Men in Green won their first two matches before going down against India, Australia and Afghanistan.

Their defeat against Afghanistan has brought them under massive scrutiny. Afghanistan faced no problem whatsoever while chasing a 283-run target against Pakistan. They registered the emphatic win with eight wickets and an over to spare.
"It is the captain's job to apply pressure, a pacer is bowling and there is no slip? Four are required on 12 balls and you've taken backward point? Apply pressure. What do the Australians do? They take one to two wickets and then put all of their players in the circle to apply pressure, like they did against Pakistan,” Afridi said on a Local Sports show, as quoted by Geo Super,
"Captaining your national side is a matter of honour, but it is not a bed of roses. When you do good, everyone praises you and when you don't, everyone blames you as well as the head coach," Afridi added.
Former Pakistan captain Mohammad Yousuf has revealed that 29-year-old Babar, who top-scored for Pakistan with 92-ball 74, broke into tears after the sensational defeat against Afghanistan.
“I heard Babar Azam cried after the defeat against Afghanistan last night,” Yousuf said. “It’s not only Babar’s fault, the entire team and management is involved. We are with Babar Azam in this tough time and the entire nation is with him," said Yousuf on Samaa TV.
Pakistan are currently positioned on the fifth spot and will next face upbeat South Africa at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on Friday, October 27.
