Shahid Afridi slams Javed Miandad for 'personal attack', later regrets

By Oneindia Staff Writer

Karachi, Oct 10: Former Pakistan captain Shahid Afridi has slammed Javed Miandad for making "personal attacks on him for no reason for a long time."

According to Pakistani media, Miandad and Afridi were involved in an ugly war of words. Legendary batsman Miandad had accused Afridi of match-fixing, according to reports in Pakistan.

Shahid Afridi has regretted his comments

"I tell Afridi to swear upon his children and say he has not thrown away Pakistan's matches. I am a witness, I caught him myself," Miandad was quoted as saying by "Geo TV".

The reaction from Miandad came after Afridi had asked for a farewell match from Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB). According to Miandad, the right-handed Afridi was motivated by money to play another match before retiring.

"Money has always been an issue for Javed Miandad," Afridi said, as reported by "Dawn".

Last night (October 9), Afridi took to the micro-blogging webiste Twitter to say that he regretted his comments on Miandad but he had to do it since he was being attacked personally for a long time.

"Javed Miandad is legend of cricket but he used very harsh words on TV for long time. He made personal attack on me for no reason.

"I tolerated for long time but every person has a limit, sad that Javed Miandad was making personal attacks for long time.

"I regret what I said to a senior but of course I had to eventually react to his behaviour, Afridi wrote in 3 tweets.

Former Pakistan paceman Shoaib Akhtar termed the fight between the two ex-cricketers as "really sad".
