Shakib Al Hasan has been ruled out of the World Cup 2023 with a fractured finger and will not be available for Bangladesh's last match against Australia on Saturday, November 11.
The Bangladesh captain will return home on Tuesday itself and begin his rehabilitation, national team physio Bayjedul Islam Khan has revealed. The 36-year-old played his majority of match winning innings of 82 runs off 65 balls against Sri Lanka on Monday, with a broken left index finger. The southpaw hit 12 fours and two sixes.

“Shakib was struck on his left index finger early in his innings but continued to bat with supportive taping and painkillers," Bayjedul Islam Khan said.
"He underwent an emergency X-ray in Delhi after the game which confirmed the fracture on the left PIP joint. Recovery is estimated at three to four weeks. He will leave for Bangladesh today to begin his rehab.”
Shakib Al Hasan, who also picked two wickets against Sri Lanka at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi, made headlines after making an appeal to umpires for a timed-out dismissal against Angelo Mathews.
Mathews walked in to bat after the fall of Sadeera Samarawickrama's wicket on the second ball of the 25th over. However, could not face the first ball in the stipulated three minutes time as the strap of his helmet came out. Shakib made an appeal and did not take it back even after Mathews explained his position.
Bangladesh won the match by three wickets to pip Sri Lanka and occupy the seventh spot. The Bangla Tigers are already out of the semifinals race of the World Cup 2023 but are looking to finish in the top eight to qualify for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 in Pakistan.
