The hard time for Bangladesh Cricket is not coming to an end. After a humiliating loss in both the test and T20 series against India, they are now facing the heat of the political turmoil in the country, and the focal point of the current controversy is Bangladesh's all-time great all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan.

Before the opening Test against South Africa, a group of Shakib supporters assembled outside the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur to voice their discontent over his absence. Around 40 to 50 fans brandished placards, unequivocally demanding Shakib’s participation.

However, reports from The Daily Star indicated that these supporters were forcefully dispersed by a small group of unidentified individuals wielding batons. Security personnel promptly intervened and effectively removed the protestors from the area.

A powerful student-led protest movement resulted in the ousting of the ruling government. Shakib, previously associated with the political party, has encountered strong opposition from numerous protesters, especially student groups pivotal in the former government's collapse. These groups have voiced dissatisfaction with Shakib's political ties, leading to threats of protest should he arrive in Dhaka for the Test series against South Africa.

Shakib Al Hasan was originally named in the Test squad for the upcoming two-match series against South Africa. However, his anticipated participation in what was supposed to be his farewell Test was overshadowed by political turmoil and ensuing demonstrations in Bangladesh.

Earlier this week, Shakib Al Hasan decided to reconsider his return to Bangladesh after taking into account advice about potential security risks. In response to these concerns, he opted to stay back and miss the crucial series. His absence from the series is tied to the significant political upheaval that occurred in Bangladesh a few months ago.

The first Test is scheduled to begin on Monday (October 21) at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur, but regarding the gravity of the current situation, it will be difficult for the all-rounder to continue for his country.
