Shakib Al Hasan has fallen into fresh controversy after a video of him hitting a fan went viral on Sunday (January 7).
A video could be seen where Shakib lost patience and slapped a Bangladeshi man amid a massive crowd and chaos. Shakib, who is contesting in the 12th Bangladesh Election, has been seen in a jovial mood, but him losing composure created shockwaves across the nation.

Primarily, there were claims that Shakib slapped the fan on election day, which created squabble across the media in the country. The Bangladesh cricketer was openly criticized by opposition parties and people blamed him for his misconduct.
But did it really happen on the Election Day? Fresh reports suggest that Shakib slapping the fan was not an election-day incident, rather than it was an old incident.
According to Bangladeshi outlet Samay News, the incident took place on January 3 during a party meeting in Faridpur.
Shakib Al Hasan, who is contesting for the Awami League, went into the meeting to meet Bangladesh President Sheikh Hasina, but people came in to see the star and thus chaos was created.
Shakib could be seen hurrying and pushing the people to move forward and was really struggling to do so. Amid this, a fan grabbed his shirt and that was enough for Shakib to lose his composure. The player turned back and slapped the alleged person and then marched forward again.
Although Shakib's name has been tainted with controversy, it did not affect the voter's verdict. The all-rounder has won from the Magura 1 constituency by a landslide. He received 1,85,388 votes and won by a margin of almost 1.5 lakhs.
Shakib's party has also retained their place in the government and the Bangladesh player is soon to take his oath as a public representative after this mammoth victory in national election.
