Sharad Pawar steps down from MCA president's post

Veteran cricket administrator Sharad Pawar resigns as Mumbai Cricket Association president.

Bengaluru, Dec 17: Former BCCI and ICC president Sharad Pawar has officially resigned from the post of Mumbai Cricket Association's president today.

The recent reforms made by Lodha committee does not allow individuals beyond 70 years of age to hold an official post in a BCCI affiliated organisation. This forced the 76-year-old politician to resign.

MCA Joint Secretary, PV Shetty informed that Sharad Pawar had earlier called for a meeting of the managing committee.

Sharad Pawar was understandably not happy with the Supreme Court's decision and intervention in the matter of cricket in India.

He had earlier said, as quoted by Indian Express, "While I am closely associated with cricket, the matter is in the Supreme court.

"The Court is now going to decide how cricket will be organized. Till yesterday, they were guiding how to run the country. Now, they are also guiding the sports organisation."
