Shikhar Dhawan has officially confirmed a new chapter in his personal life, announcing his engagement to girlfriend Sophie Shine on Monday, January 12. The former India opener revealed the news through an Instagram post, marking a significant milestone in a relationship that first went public last year.

Dhawan and Sophie had sparked curiosity among fans when, on May 1, Sophie shared a picture of the two together with the caption, "My love" accompanied by a heart emoji. The post was the first public confirmation of their relationship and quickly went viral. It also put an end to the persistent speculation surrounding Dhawan's romantic life, which had been the subject of discussion for several months.

The couple has been spotted together multiple times since then. Earlier this year, they were seen attending a Champions Trophy match in Dubai, and later appeared together at a media conclave where Dhawan subtly hinted that he had "found love once again." Sophie was also a frequent presence during Dhawan's stint with the Punjab Kings, often seen cheering from the stands.

Sophie Shine, Dhawan's fiancée, is an Irish product consultant who serves as Second Vice President - Product Consultant at Northern Trust Corporation, a major US-based financial services organisation. She is currently based in the UAE, where she is believed to have first met Dhawan. Academically, Sophie holds a degree in Marketing and Management from the Limerick Institute of Technology and completed her schooling at Castleroy College in Ireland.

Sophie has also become a regular part of the fun, light-hearted videos Dhawan shares on Instagram, endearing herself to his fans.

According to a report by the Hindustan Times, the couple is expected to tie the knot in February, marking a new beginning for the 38-year-old cricketer.
