Shiv-Sena violence: Pakistan not to participate in SAARC training

Islamabad, Oct 22: Amid violent protest by Shiv-Sena against Pakistan, the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has decided not to participate in SAARC Training Conference to be held in India next month.

ECP officials were invited by SAARC Forum for the training conference, scheduled to be held from November 17-26 to impart training to members of Election commission, reported the Nation.

"Anti Pakistan activities of Shiv Sena in India are intolerable," said ECP spokesperson.

Well-known columnist and socio-political-activist Sudheendra Kulkarni's face was smeared by black paint by some Shiv Sena workers on Oct 12 after he refused to cancel an event of a book launch of former Pakistani foreign minister Khurshid Mahmud Kasuri in Mumbai over Shiv Sena's demand.

Shiv sainiks also stormed the BCCI headquarters on October 19 in Mumbai where Pakistan Cricket Board chief Shahryar Khan was to meet Shashank Manohar, Indian Cricket Board chief, the protesting against bilateral series between both the nations in December.
