“Should Be in the Squad”: Yuvraj Singh Rallies Behind Abhishek, Ishan & Vaibhav’s Inclusion In ODI Team

Former India all-rounder Yuvraj Singh has expressed his disappointment over the limited opportunities given to talented young batters Abhishek Sharma, Ishan Kishan and Vaibhav Sooryavanshi in India's ODI setup. He believes that keeping such promising players away from 50-over cricket would be an injustice to their abilities.

Speaking on the sidelines of the launch of Protocol 32 in Mumbai on Friday, Yuvraj made it clear that he would like to see Abhishek Sharma become a regular part of India's ODI plans. He also stressed that players like Kishan and Sooryavanshi deserve opportunities in the format.

Yuvraj, who has been mentoring Abhishek for several years, acknowledged that the presence of established senior players makes team selection challenging. However, he feels the performances of these young batters should earn them consideration for a place in the national squad.

The former World Cup-winning all-rounder also credited Abhishek for his progress, highlighting the hard work behind his achievements.

"I understand we have some great players and it is hard to make a spot for them. I think the way they are performing, hopefully, they should be in the squad soon," Yuvraj said.
