Shreyas Iyer's return to the domestic fold hasn't been a successful one as the batter has failed to score runs in the semifinal of the Ranji Trophy.
Mumbai are playing Tamil Nadu in one of the semifinals and Shreyas made a return to the team for the match.

After the fiasco of losing a BCCI central contract, Shreyas Iyer made himself available for the semifinal and was slotted back into the team for the crucial match, but the Indian batter wasted an opportunity to get runs under his belt.
In the first innings against Tamil Nadu, Shreyas could only managed 3 runs off 8 balls and was cleaned up by Tamil Nadu pacer and former India bowler Sandeep Warrier. Iyer, who has been under the scrutiny of BCCI, came into bat at no. 6 but failed to make an impact for his team.
Iyer was left out from the central contract by BCCI after his reluctance to play in the domestic matches. The Indian batter cited injury as a cause but contradictory reports from NCA on his injury made BCCI unhappy with the player and he was subsequently axed from the contract along with Ishan Kishan.
Though the 29-year-old is playing the Ranji match, his form with the willow is still going through a lean patch. Iyer could only manage 104 runs across 4 innings in the first two Tests against England and was subsequently left out of the squad.
Although Iyer's struggle continues, another Mumbai batter Musheer Khan played a decent knock of 55 runs against Tamil Nadu. Musheer, who is the brother of India batter Sarfaraz Khan, played a crucial knock to keep Mumbai ticking. The telling score has come from Shardul Thakur though as the all-rounder currently bats on 82 of 79 balls.
Mumbai are currently 254 for 8 and have a lead of 108 runs. Tamil Nadu were folded for a paltry 146 runs.
