Shreyas Iyer on Saturday (November 23) provided a timely reminder to the Indian Premier League (IPL) franchises about his ability in the shortest format a day before the IPL 2025 Mega Auction.
Iyer smashed a century for Mumbai against Goa in the Syed Mushtaq Ali T20 Trophy opener to possibly increase his price tag at the upcoming big IPL auction, which is scheduled to be held on Sunday (November 24) and Monday (November 25).

The 29-year-old, who has fallen down the pecking order in the Indian T20I setup, scored an unbeaten 130 off 57 balls to take Mumbai to a mammoth score of 250 for 4 in 20 overs at the Gymkhana Ground in Hyderabad.
The right-handed batter hit 10 sixes and 11 fours during his knock and shared stands with Prithvi Shaw, Ajinkya Rahane, Shams Mulani and Suryansh Shegde, who will all be part of the two-day auction in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.
While many cricketers would have regretted getting only a match or two to impress before the auction, the experienced Iyer, who is among the biggest draws, has put the franchises on notice with a splendid century.
Iyer, who led the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) to their third IPL title earlier this year, was released by the champions and now enters the IPL Mega Auction as one of the marquee players.
The Mumbai cricketer brings his leadership role along with his batting ability, and would be high several teams' wish-list during the bidding process with several teams in need of a captain. And who better than the recent IPL-winning captain for team.
Iyer is reportedly being backed to end up at Delhi Capitals, whom he led for one season before being bought by KKR to lead the team in the 2022 IPL Mega Auction. Punjab Kings also emerge as one of his potential destinations.
With the exit of Rishabh Pant, DC is looking at Iyer as a captaincy candidate, but will face competition from PBKS, who come into the IPL Auction 2025 with the biggest purse.
