Shreyas Iyer has been officially included in Mumbai's 16-member squad for the upcoming Ranji Trophy semifinals against Tamil Nadu.
The match is scheduled to start this Saturday (March 2), marking a crucial phase for the Mumbai team as they aim to secure their position in the finals.

The inclusion of Iyer comes as a significant boost for the team, especially after Mumbai advanced to the semifinals following a draw in their quarterfinal match against Baroda.
Iyer was accused of not playing the Ranji trophy quarterfinals citing injury but his inclusion in the Semifinal team means the India batter is fit. He had a back issue which ruled him out of the last three Test matches against England. Ahead of the IPL 2024, Iyer will now be hoping to showcase his prowess in the Ranji Trophy.
Mumbai, a team with a rich history of 41 championships in the Ranji Trophy, qualified for the semifinals under compelling circumstances. Their quarterfinal encounter with Baroda concluded without a winner, but Mumbai's first-innings lead ensured their progression.
Iyer's comeback is particularly noteworthy amidst the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) secretary Jay Shah's announcement. Shah stated a forthcoming directive requiring players to participate in domestic matches, emphasizing the importance of domestic cricket's role in a player's career. Fully recovered, Iyer's availability for the semifinals is anticipated to add depth and strength to the Mumbai team.
