It's been more than a decade since Sanju Samson represented India at the Under-19 World Cup, but most of his batchmates are still competing on highest stage, including the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025.
In 2014 U-19 Men's 50-Over World Cup, India reached as far the quarter-final, where they lost to England, while South African team, featuring two players competing in IPL 2025, defeated Pakistan to lift the title.

Did you know even few of his current Indian teammates and one of his current Rajasthan Royals teammate also competed in the U-19 World Cup in 2014? Here is a look at the players who were part of that Under-19 World Cup and competing in IPL 2025:
A 19-year-old Samson finished the tournament as the highest run-scorer for India with 267 runs, including 3 fifties in 6 innings at an average of 44.50. The Indian wicketkeeper-batter leads the Rajasthan Royals in IPL 2025.
Also at 19, Shreyas, who currently leads Punjab Kings in IPL 2025, finished the U19 WC as India's fifth highest scorer with 161 runs in 3 innings including two fifties at an average of 53.66.
Surprisingly, Hooda had finished the tournament in 2014 as India's second highest run-scorer with 235 runs including 2 fifties in 6 innings at an incredible average of 78.33. A near journeyman in IPL, Hooda currently plies his trade at Chennai Super Kings.
The left-arm chinaman bowler finished the tournament in UAE as the third highest wicket-taker with 14 wickets in 6 matches at an economy rate of 4.14. Kuldeep is a regular fixture in the IPL team Delhi Capitals.
A 17-year-old Avesh Khan played only in two matches in the tournament, contributing to just 1 wicket. But later earned himself a place in the senior national side after several decent seasons in IPL. In 2025, Avesh has returned for his second stint with the Lucknow Super Giants.
Pooran finished the U19 WC as the fourth highest run-getter with 303 runs including 1 century and 2 fifties, in 6 innings at an average of 60. The wicketkeeper-batter has since grown into one of the biggest hitters in world cricket. Pooran, who has hit 200 sixes in T20s since 2024, plays in the same team as Avesh Khan - the Lucknow Super Giants in IPL 2025.
The West Indies batter, who has earned the reputation of a finisher, did not have the best of tournaments in 2014, scoring 91 runs in 5 innings. He currently plays alongside Samson at Rajasthan Royals in IPL 2025.
Markram, who captained the Proteas to the World Cup title in 2014, also finished as the player of the tournament which took place in the UAE. He scored 370 runs including 2 centuries and 1 fifty in 6 innings. Although he hasn't made big noise in the IPL, Markram earned a contract at LSG to play alongside Pooran and Avesh Khan.
The bowling all-rounder, who recently eared his senior breakthrough, finished the 2014 U-19 World Cup as South Africa's fourth highest wicket-taker with 9 wickets in 5 matches. He earned his first IPL contract in 2025 as a replacement signing for Mumbai Indians.
