Iyer last played for India in February 2024. He was dropped from the national team after a poor performance in the home Test series against England. This led to him being excluded from the central contract list released in February 2024. He was then subsequently removed from BCCI's central contract.

Shreyas Iyer's Comeback Efforts

The 29-year-old cricketer has been putting in significant effort to make a comeback. His training sessions are part of his preparation for a potential return to international cricket. Despite being moved up and down the batting order, Iyer has shown improvement and adaptability.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has not yet announced the squad for India's upcoming white-ball tour of Sri Lanka, but Iyer can make in one of the two squads. With Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma retiring from T20Is, there are openings in the T20 squad as well.

Iyer played a significant role in India's run to the final of the ODI World Cup 2023. However, miscommunication is believed to have kept him out of action since then.
