Following an action-packed month of cricket, the International Cricket Council (ICC) today announced the ICC Men's and Women's Player of the Month award winners for September 2023.
Shubman Gill, the Indian cricket sensation, and Chamari Athapaththu, the Sri Lankan women's team captain, have been named the ICC Players of the Month for September. These awards were determined by votes from global cricket fans and an expert panel consisting of ICC Hall of Famers, former international players, and media representatives.

Gill's remarkable performance in ODI cricket during September earned him the ICC Men's Player of the Month award. The 24-year-old batsman's 480 runs were instrumental in India's victory in the Asia Cup and their subsequent ODI series against Australia.
Gill began the month with solid half-centuries against Pakistan and Nepal before delivering a century against Bangladesh. His excellent batting helped his team chase down a modest target to win the Asia Cup.

Chamari Athapaththu was recognized as the ICC Women's Player of the Month for her outstanding performance in T20Is in September, which led to Sri Lanka's historic series victory over England.
After losing the first match, Athapaththu took charge of the series, leading her team to a 2-1 win. She contributed with both her bowling and batting skills, taking three wickets and scoring 55 runs in one match and securing another victory with a crucial 44 runs.
