Yuvraj Singh Applauds Shubman Gill's Unstoppable Double Century Against England

Shubman Gill's determination has been evident in the ongoing Test series against England, where he scored a double century with apparent ease. Yuvraj Singh, who once mentored Gill, noted this achievement.

During the Covid-19 lockdown, Yuvraj guided both Gill and India's T20 opener Abhishek Sharma at his Chandigarh home.

Yuvraj expressed his admiration on X, stating, "Take a bow @ShubmanGill! Making it look so easy on the big stage! Well played and well deserved double century an example of being unstoppable when the intent is clear." His words highlighted Gill's clarity of purpose and skill.

Support from Cricket Legends

Ravichandran Ashwin, who recently retired, praised Gill for his impressive start as captain. He commented on the micro-blogging platform, "A double for Gill. Fabulous start to his leadership stint, this would do him a world of good moving forward. It's time for India to bat all day now." Ashwin's remarks underscored the significance of Gill's leadership.

Sachin Tendulkar also commended Gill's performance. After Gill completed his century, Tendulkar shared his thoughts succinctly: "Very pleased to see the intent and commitment shown by @ShubmanGill and @imjadeja today. Well played!" His praise was straightforward yet meaningful.

Recognition from Punjab

The Punjab Cricket Association celebrated Gill's achievements by sharing a video of his first TV interview at age 15. In that interview, he had scored 351 runs and was part of a record 587-run partnership with Nirmal Singh for Mohali against Amritsar in an inter-district match.

The association posted on X: "Yes, Shubman Gill... you didn't just lead — you ruled. From the heart of Punjab to the soul of Indian cricket. You've shown the world what royalty on the pitch looks like. Not just a captain — a force, a fire, a future written in gold."

Their message continued with praise: "Crowns aren't worn — they're earned... and today, yours shined the brightest. The prince isn't rising anymore — he has arrived. Punjab stands proud. India stands taller." This statement reflected pride in Gill's accomplishments.

Gill's performance has not only impressed cricket legends but also instilled pride in his home state. His journey from a young talent to a leading figure in Indian cricket is celebrated widely.
