Gujarat Titans skipper Shubman Gill will look to carry forward his batting form and in the process change his team’s fortunes when he takes the field to face Punjab Kings in Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 match 37 on Sunday (April 21) at the New PCA Stadium in Mullanpur.
Gill, who won the Orange Cap last season after amassing 890 runs in 17 innings, has so far amassed 263 runs in 7 innings this season with his best score of an unbeaten 89 coming against the PBKS in the reverse fixture in Ahmedabad.

The registered scores of 31, 8, 36, 89, 19, 72 and 8 in the seven innings so far this season, striking at 151.15, but his team has won just three of the seven matches. GT suffered a defeat to Delhi Capitals in the last outing when they were bowled out for 89.
However, the Indian star batter will look for quick turnaround when GT take on his hometown team Punjab Kings, against whom he averages close to 70, and plays at the new PCA Stadium for the first time in IPL. Now, let's take a look at his stats vs PBKS in IPL:
Gill, who made his IPL debut with Kolkata Knight Riders in 2018 season following the U19 World Cup, played his maiden campaign at number seven in the batting order before cementing his place as the opener in the next season.
In his first season, Gill made scores of 14 and 16 against PBKS, while in the next season, he did not bat in the first clash, but announced his arrival as an opener with an unbeaten 65 against the Punjab-based side. He has since then been scoring consistently against PBKS.
Overall, Gill has scored 3053 runs, including 3 hundreds and 20 fifties in 95 innings at a strike rate of 135.39. Against PBKS, Gill has scored over 400 runs, including 6 fifties, in 11 innings at a strike rate over 140 against PBKS in IPL. Here is a look at Gill's stats vs PBKS:
As mentioned earlier, Gill has six fifties in 11 innings against Punjab Kings and four unbeaten knocks in his appearances vs PBKS. But he has also been troubled by a few PBKS bowlers in the past.
Gill will need to be wary of Kagiso Rabada, Arshdeep Singh and Sam Curran, who have all dismissed him once in the recent encounters. Here is a look at his stats against the PBKS bowlers:
