Shubman Gill Trolls Mohammed Siraj, Says ‘Baaki Sab Fake Hai’ During IND vs BAN Test

By MyKhel Staff

India's resounding 280-run victory over Bangladesh in the first Test at Chennai's MA Chidambaram Stadium saw many stellar performances, with Shubman Gill standing out with a century in the second innings.

However, aside from his on-field exploits, Gill made headlines for a light-hearted moment involving teammate Mohammed Siraj. On Day 4, while fielding at short leg, the stump mic caught Gill trolling Siraj with a playful remark.

Gill teased Siraj, saying, "Mohammed Siraj official ID hai, baaki sab fake hai (Mohammed Siraj's official Instagram ID is real, everything else is fake)." The reason for this banter can be traced back to when Siraj posted a video on Instagram before his international debut. In the video, he explained that the account he was posting from was genuine and all others were fake ones.

This humorous exchange quickly went viral on social media, reminding fans of Siraj's original video where the pacer clarified his official Instagram handle amidst rising fake profiles. Even wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant was seen laughing at Gill's antics.

Gill's banter provided a lighter moment in an otherwise intense match where he starred with the bat, scoring an unbeaten 119 in India's second innings. His century, his third in 2024, came at a crucial time and helped India declare at 287-4, setting Bangladesh an imposing target of 515 runs.

Alongside Pant, who scored 109, Gill formed a 167-run partnership that effectively sealed the match in India's favor. While Gill's on-field performance was praised, his trolling of Siraj added a fun dynamic to the game, further endearing him to fans.

Siraj, who has developed into one of India's key pacers, took the joke in stride, maintaining his focus as India's bowlers dominated the match. India wrapped up Bangladesh's second innings for 234, thanks to brilliant performances from Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja, who took nine wickets between them.

With the victory, India took a 1-0 lead in the two-match series and strengthened their position at the top of the World Test Championship (WTC) points table. As the teams prepare for the second Test in Kanpur, fans are eager to see whether India will secure a 2-0 sweep.
