Sidhartha Mallya in soup for sexist tweet on assault victim

By Anita
New Delhi, May 19: The Indian Premier League (IPL) muck, due to lack of a better word, that played out across media channels yesterday is only going from bad to worse. Royal Challengers Bangalore owner Sidhartha Mallya had kicked off a controversy when he tweeted on the assault victim, Zohal Hameed who was allegedly molested by Luke Pomersbach. Zohal irked at the unflattering comments that questioned her character has now decided to serve Junior Mallya with a legal notice.

Zohal Hameed's lawyer Rajnish Chopra has been quoted as saying to reporters, "We have sent a notice to him (Sid Mallya) over defamation, we demand an apology." He has demanded strict action against Junior Mallya for his tweet and an unconditional apology.

Friday's tweet by Sidhartha Mallya read, "The girl who is accusing Luke of hitting her fiance was all over me last night. If he was her fiance, she wasn't exactly behaving like a future wife." The tweet was also loaded with expletives that have apparently not gone down well with the US national who have had to face insult over injury.

More details awaited.
