Simran Shaikh, the uncapped batter who became the talk of the Women's Premier League (WPL) 2025 auction, received a rousing welcome in Dharavi, Mumbai, upon her return. Gujarat Giants secured her services for a staggering ₹1.9 crore.

Thus, making her the most expensive player of the season. Her family and locals celebrated her achievement with great enthusiasm, bursting firecrackers, garlanding her, and honoring her with shawls.

She said earning an India jersey and meeting her idol, Virat Kohli are her dreams. She added, "That's why I am putting in all this effort." Simran's meteoric rise in women's cricket has been nothing short of inspirational.

During the Senior Women's T20 Trophy, she scored 176 runs in 11 matches for Mumbai at an average of 22 and a strike rate of 100.57. Her aggressive batting style and resilience caught the attention of scouts, culminating in a fierce bidding war between Gujarat Giants and Delhi Capitals at the WPL 2025 auction.
