SL vs BAN: Sri Lanka will kick off their Super Fours campaign against Bangladesh at the R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo on Saturday, September 9. Bangladesh lost their first Super 4s match by seven wickets against Pakistan in Lahore.
Another defeat will heavily dent Bangladesh's chance to move into the final of the continental event. Against Babar Azam's Pakistan, they were bundled out for 193 despite fifties from Shakib Al Hasan and Mushfiqur Rahim. Pakistan chased down the target in 39.4 overs only.

Bangladesh and Sri Lanka have earlier met in the group stage of the Asia Cup 2023. Sri Lanka bundled them out for 164 and won the match by five wickets and 66 balls remaining. Sri Lanka are unbeaten in the tournament so far.
Sri Lanka will enter the match against Bangladesh as the favourites again. Sri Lanka haven't lost any match in the ongoing Asia Cup 2023. They defeated Bangladesh by five wickets in their first group match and registered a thrilling 2-run win in the second match against Afghanistan.
Bangladesh batting unit has collapsed in two of their three matches. They were bundled out for 164 in the first match against Sri Lanka. In their first Super Fours match against Pakistan, they could manage to post only 193 runs on the board. Bangladesh are relying heavily on Shakib Al Hasan and in a major blow to his side, Najmul Shanto has been ruled out with injury.
The Sri Lanka batters found themselves amongst runs in their last match against Afghanistan. Kusal Mendis scored 92, while Pathum Nissanka, Dimuth Karunaratne and Charith Asalanka scored 41, 32 and 36 runs respectively. Their bowling unit consisting of Maheesh Theekshana, Matheesha Pathirana, Kasun Rajitha, Dunith Wellalage, Dasun Shanaka and Dhananjaya de Silva look solid and pose a tough challenge for the under-pressure Bangladesh unit. Moreover, Bangladesh have won just 2 of their 23 ODI matches in Sri Lanka and that would add to their pressure.
