SL vs IND 2024: India's tour of Sri Lanka will mark the debut of the new head coach Gautam Gambhir, who will be looking forward to starting the assignment on a positive note. The overseas tour comprises three T20Is and as many ODIs.
The tour kicks off with the truncated version, with the opening fixture, slated to be played on July 27, Saturday at Pallekele International Cricket Stadium in Kandy. The second and third T20I will be staged at the same venue on July 28 and 30 respectively. Suryakumar Yadav will lead the pack from the vanguard, with Shubman Gill named as his deputy.

His quick footwork lets him operate around the crease and play a wide range of shots. He is one of the Indian batters who is expected to give Sri Lankan bowlers a run for their money in the upcoming series.
2. Shubman Gill: Shubman Gill's journey in T20I cricket has had its share of ups and downs. He didn't have the best of starts in this format. Despite the setback, the BCCI still backed him, courtesy of the youngster's immense potential and skill. Recently, he has been named the vice-captain in limited-overs formats.
With this new responsibility, the onus is now on the young lad to step up and deliver consistently. With his elegant stroke play and solid technique, the 24-year-old has all the tools to succeed in the upcoming T20I series against Sri Lanka, which would give him the confidence to uplift his T20I career.
3. Rinku Singh: For Rinku Singh, T20 cricket is his strong suit, making him a natural fit in this format. He is known for his aggressive and fearless batting approach. The left-hander has demonstrated his capability in clearing the boundary with such ease and can play big shots under pressure.
His power-hitting ability allows him to score runs quickly, especially in the slog overs. Having made his T20I debut in 2023, he has been a potent weapon for the team in middle-overs, mustering runs at a rate of knots. He scored 416 runs in 20 games at a staggering average of 83.2 and a strike rate of 176.3 including two fifties. Rinku Singh is expected to make a telling impact for the team in Sri Lanka T20Is.
