Pakistan middle-order batter Saud Shakeel on Tuesday brought up his first overseas Test hundred in the ongoing first Test match between Sri Lanka and West Indies.
Overall, the hundred is Shakeel's second in Test cricket. The innings from the 27-year-old came at a crucial time. Notably, visitors Pakistan were five down for 101/5 in reply to Sri Lanka's first innings total of 312.

It was then that the Karachi-born batter forged a 177-run partnership for the sixth wicket with Agha Salma (83). The innings from Shakeel has single-handedly brought back Pakistan in the match. He partnered for 52 runs for the seventh wicket with Nauman Ali. At the time this article was published Shakeel had completed his 150 runs and partnered with Pakistan number 11 Naseem Shah for 40 unbeaten runs.
During the course of the innings, the left-hand batter also joined the elite list of only four batters to have scored a fifty in each of their first six Test matches.
Sunil Gavaskar, Basil Butcher, Saeed Ahmad and Bert Sutcliffe and the ones who have achieved the feat in the past. No one has done it in their first seven Test matches. If Saud scores one more in the next Test, it will be a new record
