The Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2024 has entered its penultimate stage as the teams get ready for the upcoming semi-final clashes. After the quarterfinals on Wednesday (December 11), four teams now remain in the hunt for the title.
The coveted domestic T20 tournament saw the final team in Delhi advance to the semis. The Delhi side defeated Uttar Pradesh in the last fixture.

The SMAT 2024-25 quarterfinals delivered thrilling contests. Baroda defeated Bengal by 41 runs, with Hardik Pandya's 3/27 leading the charge. Madhya Pradesh overcame Saurashtra's 170/6, chasing it down with 6 wickets in hand. Mumbai stunned Vidarbha in a high-scoring chase, successfully chasing 222 in 19.2 overs to win by 6 wickets. Delhi showcased brilliance as Anuj Rawat's 73 and disciplined bowling by Prince Yadav (3/36) helped them defeat Uttar Pradesh by 19 runs.
Delhi have joined the likes of Madhya Pradesh, Mumbai and Baroda. Hardik Pandya's Baroda were the finalists in the last year's campaign.
All the matches will be hosted at the iconic M. Chinnaswamy Stadium known for excellent facilities and a competitive pitch. The matches will be played on Saturday (December 13) in Bengaluru.
Baroda will take on Mumbai at 11:00 AM. Later in the evening, at 4:30 PM, Delhi, a team filled with experienced players, will face Madhya Pradesh at the same venue in what is expected to be a thrilling contest under the lights.
In the 2024 Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, Sakibul Gani is presently the top run-scorer with 353 runs at an average of 58.83 and a strike rate of 142.34. Karan Lal followed closely with 338 runs at an average of 42.25 and a strike rate of 161.72. Abishek Porel scored 335 runs at 41.88, while Ajinkya Rahane amassed 334 runs at 55.67. Tilak Varma contributed 327 runs at an impressive average of 65.40.
As far as the bowlers are concerned, Jagjit Singh has been the top wicket-taker so far with 18 wickets in 7 matches. Kumar Kartikeya followed closely with 15 wickets from 8 matches. Mukesh Choudhary claimed 15 wickets in 6 matches, while Shreyas Gopal took 14 wickets in 7 matches. KV Sasikanth also picked up 14 wickets in 7 matches.
