Two Chennai Super Kings players shone brightly, while the lone Kolkata Knight Rider faltered for Mumbai in their latest Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy encounter on Friday (November 28).
Ayush Mhatre, retained by CSK for IPL 2026, smashed a blazing 110 not out off 53 balls (8 fours, 8 sixes) in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy (SMAT), powering Mumbai to chase 193 against Vidarbha with 7 wickets and 13 balls remaining.

Fellow CSK retainer Shivam Dube complemented Mhatre's fireworks with an unbeaten 39 off 19 balls (3 fours, 3 sixes), accelerating the chase after Suryakumar Yadav's 88-run stand with Mhatre for the third wicket.
This CSK duo's synergy highlights their IPL potential, with Mhatre's aggressive opening evident in his IPL 2025 cameos. Mhatre had another cap to his feather on the day as the young Mumbaikar was named India U19 captain for the U19 Asia Cup. He was roped in as a replacement but has been retained by CSK ahead of the IPL 2026 season, signaling a youth infusion for the five-time champions. Dube's finishing prowess further bolsters CSK's balanced T20 attack alongside Mhatre's explosive starts.
On the other hand, KKR captain Ajinkya Rahane had a torrid outing, as he was dismissed for a duck. India's T20I captain Suryakumar Yadav played an anchor role with his 35 off 30 deliveries, as Mhatre went berserk from the other end, completing his century in just 49 deliveries.
