Smriti Mandhana Climbs to Second in ICC Women’s ODI Rankings After Tri-Series Heroics

India opener Smriti Mandhana has surged to second spot in the latest ICC Women's ODI Batting Rankings following her stellar century in the final of the recently concluded tri-nation series involving India, Sri Lanka, and South Africa.

Mandhana's sublime knock of 116 off 101 deliveries against Sri Lanka not only powered India to a 23-run victory in the final but also earned her 727 rating points - now just 11 behind top-ranked South African batter Laura Wolvaardt. Her previous half-century against South Africa in the group stage also played a key role in her rise.

Mandhana isn't the only Indian to make significant gains. Jemimah Rodrigues has climbed five places to a career-best 15th position after hammering a scintillating 123 against South Africa. Meanwhile, all-rounder Deepti Sharma's 93-run effort in the same game helped her move up 13 slots to joint-32nd on the batting charts.

From the Sri Lankan camp, captain Chamari Athapaththu has jumped two places to joint-seventh after consistent performances throughout the tournament. Teammate Vishmi Gunaratne also improved her standing, rising eight spots to 63rd, while wicketkeeper Anushka Sanjeewani made the biggest move among the trio - climbing 19 places to 75th.

Despite South Africa falling short of the title, several of their players made notable progress. Chloe Tryon impressed with scores of 67 and 74, pushing her nine places up to 18th in the batting list. She now sits just seven points behind her personal best rating of 601. Tryon also made an impact with the ball, picking up a hat-trick against Sri Lanka which helped her rise 14 places to 50th among bowlers and three spots to 11th among all-rounders.

South Africa's Tazmin Brits, Annerie Dercksen, and Nadine De Klerk also made strides. De Klerk moved up to 24th in bowling and 12th among all-rounders, while Dercksen leapt 19 places to 44th in the all-rounder rankings.

Among bowlers, while the top 20 remained unchanged, India's Sneh Rana climbed to a career-high joint-34th position, with Sri Lanka's Sugandika Kumari just behind her at 37th, both moving up four spots each.

The rankings update reflects the growing competitiveness and depth in women's cricket across all three nations involved in the series.
