India women's cricket team premier batter and vice-captain Smriti Mandhana equalled the record for most centuries by an Indian woman in ODIs on Wednesday (June 20).
Mandhana scored her 7th ODI century against South Africa at M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru, thus matching the numbers of former India captain Mithali Raj.

The 27-year-old has also become the first Indian women player to score consecutive centuries in ODIs. She played a fantastic knock in the previous match and scored 117 runs. She racked up another century in the 2nd ODI against the Proteas women and played a knock of 136.
Smriti Mandhana scored her first ODI century back in 2016. Her maiden century in the 50 overs came against Australia in 2016 when Mandhana scored 102 runs in 109 balls in Hobart.
Smriti Mandhana played a fantastic knock against West Indies in Taunton in the 2017 Women's World Cup. She scored an unbeaten 106 which came in just 108 deliveries.
Smriti Mandhana got to her 3rd ODI century against the Proteas. Mandhana scored 135 in just 129 deliveries against South Africa in Kimberley.
In Napier, Smriti Mandhana got to her 4th ODI ton against New Zealand. She scored 105 runs off just 104 deliveries, hitting 9 fours and 3 sixes in it.
This scintillating knock came against West Indies women where Mandhana scored 123 runs in Hamilton, thus becoming the only Indian batter with two centuries on New Zealand soil. This century came from Mandhana's bat three years later, back in 2022.
Smriti got to her 6th century against South Africa in Chennai, which was her first ODI century on home soil. The India player scored 117 off 127 balls and hit 12 fours and a six in her knock.
The 7th century came against South Africa as well. Mandhana scored 136 runs against them in Bengaluru, thus surpassing her previous highest score. The India vice-captain will be hoping to continue her rich vein of form in the upcoming matches as well.
