Brisbane, Dec.1 : Australian all-rounder Shane Watson may not have got a look in the Adelaide Test against New Zealand, but he says he quite happy about being in the best form of his career.

He reckons that his batting talent has only just been "freed up" - and all thanks to the hit and giggle of Twenty20 cricket.

"I have been working on being a solid batsman whereas when I am batting in Twenty20 I free up my technique," Watson said of his batting.

"I have adapted that to bat in four day cricket. It has actually freed up my talent a bit more. I am trying not to close myself off too much. Technically, previously the things that I have been working on have been holding back my talent a bit," the Sydney Morning Herald quoted him, as saying.

The results were there for all to see in Watson's first game for Queensland since his Test dumping.

After looking out of sorts with the bat in the first Test against New Zealand, Watson used knowledge gleaned from sessions with former Test skipper Greg Chappell to resurrect a wobbly Bulls second innings in their Sheffield Shield clash with South Australia at the Gabba.

He thrashed 15 fours and a six in an 83-ball 81 on Sunday - the same day he snared career best figures of 7-69 to heap even more pressure on his mate Symonds.

"I have been working on a few things with Greg Chappell - for it to be able to come off is great," Watson said of his batting.

The blond allrounder's astonishing all-round display at the Gabba clearly shows Watson's head is in the right place - something Symonds is still striving for since the "gone fishing" affair.
