Sourav Ganguly has backed India and Australia to do well in the upcoming T20 World Cup 2024 in the USA and the West Indies. He also called India's 15-member squad for the T20 World Cup 2024 fabulous.
Ganguly said India and Australia - the finalists of the ODI World Cup 2023, will once again do well in the ICC showpiece event which starts from June 2. India will play their first match against Ireland on June 5.

"India and Australia the two best teams of the tournament. I'm sure they will do the same thing in the USA and the West Indies," Ganguly told reporters.
On the Indian squad, Ganguly said: "It's a fabulous squad, they are all match winners. All 15 are good enough to be selected, I'm sure Rohit (Sharma) and Rahul (Dravid) will pick the best."
Notably, Rinku Singh did not find a place in the 15-member squad despite having a T20I strike rate of 176.23 in 15 T20Is. Chief Selector Ajit Agarkar said it was one of the toughest calls that the selection committee had to make.
Ganguly reckoned that Rinku could have missed out as India wanted to go with an "extra spinner" keeping in mind the slow tracks in the West Indies.
"It's West Indies. The wickets may be slow and assist spin so they (selectors) wanted to go with another spinner. Maybe because of that Rinku didn't get an opportunity but it's just the beginning for Rinku," Ganguly said.
20 teams have been divided into four groups of five teams each for the initial round of the T20 World Cup 2024. India are in Group A alongside Pakistan, Ireland, Canada and the USA.
