Sourav Ganguly says no to politics

Kolkata, Jan 16: Former cricketer and Team India captain Sourav Ganguly on Friday, put a lid on speculations about him contesting Lok Sabha elections, saying he would not join politics.

"I am not in politics. I am a man of sports," he said.

"It is confirmed," Ganguly told reporters after a visit to state secretariat, Nabanna.

He said he visited Nabanna to discuss matters related to his upcoming school project in Kolkata. Last month, Ganguly had said that he had received an offer from BJP to contest next year's Lok Sabha elections, but was undecided. Speculation was doing the rounds after he met Varun Gandhi through a common friend in Delhi in mid-November last year.

Reportedly, soon after the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) offered former India cricket captain Sourav Ganguly a seat to contest the 2014 Lok Sabha polls, the West Bengal Congress chief too had called on the cricketer.
