Former Indian cricket captain Sourav Ganguly is poised to make a return to cricket administration as he is poised to contest for the presidency of the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB).
A source told MyKhel that Ganguly will submit his nomination prior to the CAB's Annual General Meeting (AGM) on September 20, which was also earlier reported by India Today.

This move follows the ineligibility of reigning CAB president Snehasish Ganguly, Sourav's elder brother, who is unable to continue because of the tenure caps set by the Lodha Committee. MyKhel also understands that the former India captain will be taking over the CAB helm unopposed, as no one is likely to contest the election against him.
"He will be the CAB president again after the cooling period following BCCI role. His elder brother is going out, so he comes in. It's good for Bengal cricket. No one will oppose him as long as the current political scenario in Bengal prevails," a source said to MyKhel.
Ganguly's administrative track record is notable. Beginning as CAB Secretary in 2015 before rising to President the same year, he led Bengal cricket through a period of modernization until 2019. His leadership saw significant strides in infrastructure upgrades, enhanced coaching standards, and an improvement in the state team's performance.
After stepping down from the CAB, Ganguly served as the president of the BCCI from 2019 to 2022. Highlights of his national tenure include the establishment of a cutting-edge National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru, new initiatives to boost women's cricket, such as the Women's T20 Challenge and negotiation of record-shattering IPL media rights agreements.
The former India captain has a rich legacy both as a player and an administrator, and it promises to be another welcome return for the Prince of Kolkata at his abode.
