Who Won the Toss Today, SA vs AFG World Cup 2023 Match 42: Afghanistan captain Hashmatullah Shahidi won the toss and elected to bat first against South Africa in ICC World Cup 2023 Match 42 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Friday (November 10).
South Africa and Afghanistan head into the match on the back of defeats. While Temba Bavuma's side suffered a demoralising defeat to India at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata, Afghanistan lost to Australia despite being on top for most part of the match at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.

The Proteas will now look to get a win under their belt heading into the semi-final, while Afghanistan, who are virtually out of the semifinal reckoning, will look to end their fairytale campaign with another stunning win.
As for team news, South Africa have made two changes from the side that lost to India with Andile Phelukwayo and Gerald Coetzee coming in for Marco Jansen and Tabraiz Shamsi, while Afghanistan remain unchanged from their defeat to Australia.
Afghanistan skipper Shahidi, who opted to bat first, said: "The surface looks like there will be spin in the second innings so we are batting first. We are unchanged. It was a tough game for us. Today, it is an important game of the world cup for us."
Meanwhile, South Africa skipper Bavuma said: "We have another chance to chase today and we want to do well. A strong Indian side put us under pressure with bat and ball."
On the team news, Bavuma added: "Tabraiz Shamsi and Marco Jansen have been rested today and Andile Phehlukwayo and Gerald Coetzee come into the side. I feel that it might skid on later. It might be a little slow to start with and there also might be a bit of dew in the evening."
