In a potential Group D winner decider, South Africa take on Bangladesh in match 21 of T20 World Cup 2024 at the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium in New York on Monday (June 10).
Aiden Markram-led South Africa will look for a better performance with the bat after stuttering in a low run-chase against Netherlands in their previous outing, while Najmul Hossain Shanto’s Bangladesh will look to make it two wins on the trot after opening their campaign with a victory over Sri Lanka.

With victory over Sri Lanka, South Africa and Bangladesh seem favourites to progress to the Super 8 from Group D that also includes Netherlands and Nepal. Tonight’s match could see one if not both teams get closer to progress.
Both teams have played in every edition of the T20 World Cup since the tournament was organized first in 2007, but have never managed to win it. While South Africa has reached as far as the semi-final, Bangladesh’s best finish is reaching the Super 8s once.
The two sides will clash for the ninth time in T20 format and for the first time in the New York venue, which has produced some low-scoring thrillers so far. Here is a look at the head to head numbers of BAN vs SA:
