South Africa will look to seal the series when they take on West Indies in second and final Test of the two-match series, scheduled to start on Wednesday (March 8) at the Wanderers in Johannesburg.
Temba Bavuma's Test captaincy started with a win as South Africa registered an 87-run victory over Kraigg Brathwaite's West Indies, who challenged the Proteas in their own backyard.
Opting to bat first, the hosts rode on Aiden Markram (115) and Dean Elgar (71) knocks before Alzarri Joseph's five-wicket haul helped the visitors bowl out the opposition for 342 in the first innings.
In response Raymon Reifer led the Windies fightback with a knock of 62, but the South Africa pacers led by Anrich Nortje (5 for 36) ended the visitors innings at 212, helping the hosts take a 130-run lead.
In the second innings, South Africa were bundled out for 116 after Kemar Roach (5 for 47) ripped through the batting order, setting up West Indies for a chase of 247 in the final innings.
While Jermaine Blackwood played a fighting knock of 79, the rest of the West Indies batter failed to put up a fight, getting bowled out for 159 after a fiery performance from Kagiso Rabada (6 for 50).
Now, the action shifts to Johannesburg, where South Africa have beaten West Indies in their previous two attempts. However, the hosts will be without the services of their premier pace bowler, Anrich Nortje, who withdrew from the squad as a precaution.
Apart from Nortje, South Africa and West Indies don't have any other injuries to worry about. The hosts have already announced their playing 11 as Wiaan Mulder comes in to replace Nortje and, Keshav Maharaj comes in for Senuran Muthusamy.
Also, Ryan Rickleton and Simon Harmer come in to replace Keegan Petersen and Marco Jansen. West Indies, meanwhile, may look to add another spinner Gudakesh Motie, who has been in good form, in the playing 11 to replace to either Shannon Gabriel or Roston Chase.
